Weather Bird shoes are weatherized!” A trademark label fastened to the inside of the shoes is the black Weather Bird. The Weather Bird trademark belonging to Peter’s Diamond Brand, a division of the International Shoe Company, St. Louis, Missouri. It is a rooster standing on a weather vane. The jet black bird has a ruby red cone and bright yellow beak. One leg is raised and long talons hold a blue umbrella above his head in some of the ads. It was used in advertising in the 1940s and 1950s. Small plastic banks made in the image of the Weather bird were also used to advertise during the 1940s and 50s. They measured 4-inches high, 3.5- inches long and 1.25-inches wide. Molded clothing on Weather Bird include a sports jacket, bowtie and umbrella. Molded identification marks on the base and around the weathervane include; “WEATHER BIRD SHOES.” The Weather Bird banks are one solid color of plastic. I have discovered the banks were made in three colors, red, blue, and yellow. This is an ORIGINAL item, NOT A REPRODUCTION item!
