1950's American Character Sweet Sue Doll w/Shoes/Annie Oakley/Gown/Dresses 18"

Description: Judith Izen's Book on American Character dolls shows the Annie Oakley clothes on page 95. And this doll is missing a few of the pieces like boots and hat and guns. And this outfit is a variation of the pictured costume with samples of cow/steer brands encircling the skirt. The skirt and vest are in wonderful condition. It snaps and zippers in the back. The ballgown is in wonderful condition too. the diameter of the ballgown at the bottom of the dress is 22". The strapless bodice has a design and the netting covers the bodice as well as the entire gown with two additional rows of netting added to the skirt to add flounce. Two snap enclosures in the back. The red and white summer dress has matching pants. The additional 2 dresses are also very well made. I found an Annie Oakley dress pattern for sale on another auction in the sold group. It shows a pattern for the American Character doll. The coloring is very good for this doll. She can be posed and in most of the pictures she is standing on her own. The pictures show some fly away strands of hair on her face. Her coloring is in very good condition and she has no cracks on her face. She needs a trip to the beauty parlor for a hair-do. This doll is not marked. She is a walker in that when her legs are moved her head turns. She has two pairs of shoes. One pair looks like ballet shoes and they need a ribbon added and the second pair are black patent leather with bows and a buckle on each shoe in very good condition. Please email with any questions.
