Great condition, beautiful photos and period design, with only 88 students in the graduating class.Phil Niekro was an American baseball pitcher who played 24 seasons, for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Yankees, and Blue Jays.Regarded as the greatest knuckleball pitcher of all time, Niekro was selected to five All-Star teams, led the National League in victories twice (in 1974 and 1979), led the major leagues in earned run average (in 1967), and won the National League Gold Glove Award five times. As of 2024, Niekro ranks 16th on MLB's all-time wins list with 318 career victories; as of 2024, he is the only knuckleballer to win 300 or more major league games.Niekro also holds the major league record with 121 career victories after the age of 40.He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.John Havlicek competed for 16 seasons, all with the Boston Celtics, winning eight NBA championships and, one of the greatest clutch players in game history, had an unsurpassed 8–0 record in NBA Finals series outcomes. A 13-time All-Star, and 8-time All Defensive team member, Havlicek is widely considered to have been one of the greatest players of all time. At the time of his retirement, he was the NBA career leader in games played and 3rd in scoring, and he is still the Boston Celtics' all-time leader in scoring, with 26,395 points. He was also an NCAA Champion with the Ohio Buckeyes in 1960. Among his many accolades, his number #17 was retired immediately after his playing career, his jersey number #5 was retired by The Ohio Buckeyes. and he was inducted as a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Many know his part in one of the NBA's quintessential clutch plays--in the playoffs in 1965 against the Philadelphia 76ers, he picked off a pass from Hal Greer in the closing moments, resulting in the jubilant reaction from Celtics announcer Johnny Most who screamed "Havlicek steals the ball!!!" which has been dubbed by the NBA as "the most famous radio call in basketball history." Fellow Hall of Famer Chris Mullin wore number 17 as a tribute to Havlicek. In high school, Havlicek was a 4-sport athlete, co-captaining the basketball and football teams (the latter as quarterback), and after college he was not only drafted by the Boston Celtics but also Pro Football's Cleveland Browns. Very Good to Excellent condition hardback issue with tight binding and text and clean pages, with no must or mildew or missing pieces, with very mild shelf wear. Only one signature, the graduating senior owner of the book. Clean and Solid. Great rarity giving a true look at the early life and times of one of baseball's greats--Just waiting for a good home.Email or call for any details. Spanky's Archive, since 1986.
