Description: The retractor is a surgical instrument with which a surgeon can either actively separate the edges of a surgical incision or wound, or can hold back underlying organs and tissues, so that body parts under the incision may be accessed. This specific set of military retractors is brand new – I opened the packaging only to take pictures. It is also known as Parker Langenbeck, or retractor double end. Used to expose surface layers of skin, commonly in plastic surgery procedures. It is a double-ended retractor, with a fenestrated handle. The blades at each end are angled at 90 degrees and also have a slightly curved, rounded lip. The blades face in the same direction. On the back of both tools it reads: “STAINLESS” and “CARSTENS U.S.A.” The paper packaging is affected by the external humidity conditions. The tools are in mint condition. On the outer box, and also on the internal airtight packaging it reads: STK. NO. 3-609-200 RETRACTOR, GENERAL OPERATING NESTED UNIT: PAIR QUANTITY: I MPA-30-287-md-17388 H. CARSTENS MFG. CO. FOREST PARK, ILL. DATE PACKED FEB. 1953 PRESERVATION METHOD IA-8
