Description: 1953 Topps #106 John Antonelli Boston Braves mid-level EX-MT B53#106A1 This is a mid level 1953 John Antonelli card with nice corners, straight edges and near-perfect centering. Near perfect centering Nice corners Clean back Vintage ‘53 Antonelli played 12 years in the majors without minor league experience. He signed with the Braves of Boston in ‘48 and was traded to the Giants in ‘54. He spent ‘51 and ‘52 in the Military, and after a 12-12 season in ‘53 with Milwaukee, he was traded to the Giants in Feb ‘54. He had his best year in ‘54 with the Giants, winning 21 and losing 7, and he led the league in winning percentage, and won the ERA title with a 2.30 mark. He won the one game he started in the ‘54 Series, the Giants sweeping the Indians in four games. He had another 20 win game season in ‘56 and led the league twice in shutouts performed. He finished his career in ‘61 playing with Cleveland and Milwaukee, ending with a lifetime 126-110 won lost record and a 3.34 ERA.
