Raymond Otis Boone (1923-2004) was the first in three generations of Boone Major Leaguers to be named to the MLB All-Star Game, with his son Bob and grandsons Brett and Aaron. Boone signed with the Cleveland Indians in 1942, but did not debut until 1948 due in part to military service in World War II. Boone played the infield for 13 years in the Major Leagues with the Indians (1948-1953), the Detroit Tigers (1953-1958), the Chicago White Sox (1958-1959), the Kansas City Athletics (1959), the Milwaukee Braves (1959-1960) and the Boston Red Sox (1960). He was a member of the 1948 World Series champion Indians and was named to two American League All-Star teams. In 1955, Ray led the AL in RBI (116) while batting .284 with 142 hits and 20 home runs. He had five seasons with 20 or more home runs and eight seasons with 110 hits or more. Ray posted a career .958 fielding percentage with 576 putouts, 1,058 assists, 112 double plays and 72 errors in 1,706 chances. Ray Boone finished his career with a .275 batting average, 1,260 hits including 151 home runs, 645 runs, and 737 RBI in 1,373 games.
