Scene Description: The YC-123E Pantobase troop and cargo transport plane designed for the Air Force is shown during a demonstration at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The plane can take off and land with equal facility on regular runways as well as water. It is also designed to operate off snow, ice and unprepared landing strips via the Pantobase retractable skid like arrangement seen under the hull. For regular runways the plane is equipped with wheels which drop from underside. It was designed and built by Stroukoff Aircraft Corp. of West Trenton, NJ. July 28, 1955.
