Description: This is an awesome AC 8,000 RPM tachometer from the 60's. This was made for mechanics to hook up to a car while tuning and running diagnostics. It has wire leads with alligator clips to attach to the coil terminals. The leads get hidden behind a hinged door on the back of the unit. This tach will work on 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines by using the switch on the side of the unit to select the correct application. I have seen hot rodder remove the tach from the pastic housing and mount it in the dash of a car or in a Sun tach cup on the steering column. This tach looks amazing in a hot rod or muscle car! These were quite expensive when new and not many survived. Don't miss this awesome vintage tach. This tach unit is in very good original condition as shown. The tach dial is very nice with a bright crisp dial. The lens is real glass with no damage other than some light fogginess on the inside. The chrome bezel is excellent with no dings, piting, or other damage. The plastic housing has no breaks, repairs, or modifications and is still bright bluw, not faded. The handle and base are in good condition and still mounted solid to the housing. The rear hatch works great. The wire leads to attach to the coil anre still there and the insulation on the wires is deteriorating. The wire leads shuld be replaced which will be straight forward since the wires attach to the tach on studs with nuts holding them in place. If using on a hot rod, you would be replacing these wires anyway. This tach has been tested and works flawlessly with no sticking or hesitation. This is an awesome original GM service tachometer.
