Non Commissioned Officer Candidate Clutch Collar Insignia Pin.N.C.O.C.This is the real deal, not a reproduction and not a costume piece. This was purchased from a fire fighter along with a good many other fire, police, and military pins that we will be listing. The metal is clean w little to no wear in our opinion. No cracks, bends, or anything in the metal or the pins on the back. Nice original piece.During the Vietnam War the Army developed and these insignia pins were worn by the candidates of these schools. The Insignia was usually produced in a gilt metal that was a dull and subdued metal as most military pins and such were to keep the glare down during combat. This would look wonderful in any collection. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have :)Here is some additional history and information on the N.C.O.C. Program: A non commissioned officer (NCO) is a military officer who has not earned a commission. An NCO usually obtains their position of authority through being promoted through the enlisted ranks. The NCO corps usually includes all grades of Corporals and Sergeants and in some countries, even Warrant officers also carry out the same duties of NCO's.The NCO Candidate Course (N.C.O.C.C.) was designed to maximize the two-year tour of the enlisted draftee. The concept of this program was approved by Army Chief of Staff General Harold K. Johnson on June 22, 1967. The first course was held at Fort Benning, GA on September 5th, 1967. The first NCOCC Commandant was Sgt. Maj. Don Wright. The NCOC course was divided into 3 phases. The first phase was 12 weeks of intensive, hands-on training. For the Infantry noncom, the course included tasks such as hand-to-hand combat, physical training, first aid, weapons, map reading, indirect fire, communications, and more. The second phase focused on instruction of squad and platoon tactics and fire team. 80% of this phase was conducted in the field beyond over 300 hours of other instructions. The third phase was a practice run for Vietnam and included a full week of navigation, patrols, ambush, and defensive perimeters. This information was found online after a lot of exhaustive research. There is more information out there if searched for.** Plastic Display Stand Not Included ** FINAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND TERMS ** JUST SO THERE IS NO CONFUSION ON SHIPPING....WE WILL USUALLY HAVE YOUR PACKAGE IN THE HANDS OF THE USPS WITHIN 1-2 DAYS IN MOST CASES, WE WILL CONTACT YOU IF THAT IS NOT THE CASE...HOWEVER, ONCE IN THE HANDS OF USPS, THE TIMING IS OUT OF OUR HANDS.
