1960s Tressy Doll Brunette Red Dress Belt Underwear Hair & MU Accessories NICE!

Description: Vintage 1960s American Character Tressy Makeup Doll Brunette Original Red Dress Belt Hair Makeup Accessories This doll is estimated to be 1963 or as late as 1965, when Tressy Doll was marketed with the grow hair feature AND accessories to change the doll’s face and hair color. This doll is a brunette, in original red knit dress with white tie belt, original white lace-trimmed underwear and one hair color and two makeup tube accessories. Marked copyright 1963 American Character on back of head. Approx 11.5” No key. Condition: Very good vintage pre-owned. Low if any play is evident. Head, limbs and torso are very good, no cracks or splits. Finger tips have wear so minuscule that we could see it through a loupe only. Legs are tight at hips, right one less so than left but both arms and legs hold a pose. Legs are positioned forward and together when doll is seated. Face paint is very, very good — the best we’ve ever seen with an old Tressy doll. Left eye has one microscopic fleck on white portion. Hair is soft, all hair plugs appear to be present, overall length is short and not as puffy/bouffant as many Tressy dolls but it is original and not cut. The Tressy fall AKA pony tail lengthening mechanism needs fixing by those with basic Tressy doll repair skills. We are not that brave! Doll has two very minor scuffs on calves. No discoloration and no chew marks. Dress has one repair (it was darned on its lower right) and all of its white trim is dingy from age and storage. No foul odors. Please see photos. The hair and makeup accessories are untested, tubes are likely empty due to their age, but the exterior, caps and interior application tips are in generally good order. Brown tube has a split. Important: The hair lengthening pulley mechanism is not functioning. The retracting mechanism moves the hairpiece slightly but the piece does not descend. There is no plastic key included in this listing. Originally, a key was inserted into a slot on the doll’s back to retract its long fall/ponytail. A push button on its stomach allowed the hair to grow. Keys were usually lost so to shorten the doll’s hair, any small flat edge such as a metal or plastic cuticle pusher or screw driver inserted in the back button will typically wind the hair back.
