Description: 1960s VINTAGE KUTMASTER USA M3 STYLE KNIFE w LANYARD RING & LEATHER SHEATH. 6 3/4" blade, 11 1/2" overall knife unsheathed. I purchased this knife 3 1/2 years ago, and since then have been unable to locate any original maker literature for it. I am not sure if it was made with a half guard, or with the angled guard as present on the military M3, which may have broken when somebody tried to straighten it, then ground the edge of the remaining guard smooth. I don't see any damage to the blade, but feeling along the cutting edge, there is a rough place about 2 1/2" from tip. There are a few minor scuffs to the stacked leather handle. The lanyard ring through the end of the tang is mobile and also secures the handle and pommel, which has a very minimal wobble. The guard also has very minimal wobble, indicating it would be relatively easy to replace if desired. The last photo is an excerpt from M.H. Cole book, US MILITARY KNIVES, Book IV, page 180, illustrating this style knife.
