1962 Fender Vintage Pre CBS Slab Board Jazz Bass Refinished !

Description: From the vintage vault at Pristine Auctions we are proud to present this amazing 1962 Fender Pre-CBS Jazz Bass Serial Number 77624. This is an absolutely incredible players instrument that is literally oozing with tons of Mojo and Vintage Vibe. This bass sounds absolutely incredible and has that quintessential vintage Jazz Bass Sound. First this bass has been owned by the same owner since 1969 and it was purchased at Galucci Music in Scranton PA at that time. This instrument has been gigged since 1969 and it is an incredible instrument in every aspect. The first thing to mention regarding this instrument is that is has been refinished in a Metallic Orangefrom the original sunburst finish. It appears to a poly finish with a clear coat as well. This refinish is decades old, pre-nineties and was done by George Albrecht based out of Scranton PA as well. At the same time he also resprayed the neck. The instrument itself is mostly original. The Neck pickup is original, the pots are original and date to Early 1962, minus the Respray the neck is original and dates to April of 1962. This neck is absolutely beautiful and features one of the most stunning Slab Board instruments I've ever encountered. There is some fret wear on the original frets as it has been played for over 60 years. Cosmetically the bass is in Good vintage Condition. Its been played and played through the years. There are tons of scratches, dings, chips, etc. Almost all of this is on the body which the neck is still in absolutely incredible shape. The refinish on the body is rough as it is probably between 35-40 years old at this point. We have decided to keep this instrument as original as possible. With that said there are some things that need to be mentioned. 1. When she came to us the original bridge pickup was not working. This had all original solder joints when we got it. So we tried to get the bridge pickup to work to no avail. We did redo some solder joints as the instrument could have benefitted from this based on age too. We replaced the Bridge pickup with a Brand New USA Fender American Vintage Series pickup. Its a fantastic match. The original bridge pickup is included with the sale The next buyer can get the bridge pickup rewound (under 100.00) should they decide to do so. We were able to use the original cover so it didn't look strange with one new cover and one old. 2. The G-String saddle treble side screw was obliterated. It needs one screw which we have on order. 3. There are several tuner screws missing. This instrument was just given a full professional set up with Martin 45-100 Gauge Round Wound Nickel Strings. This bass plays really nice. The sound is unbelievable and very vintage. The truss rod works just fine and the neck is still literally as good as a 60 year old neck could be. There is some fret wear. However this is not too bad because this instrument has had Flat Wound strings on for the last 30 years or so. She will ship professionally packed and fully insured.
