Description: Handsome 1965 color lithographed map of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and eastern Thailand. It was printed in Washington, January 1965, seven months before the first major ground offensive by U.S. forces in Vietnam — Operation Starlite, in which some 5,500 U.S. Marines struck against the First Viet Cong Regiment south of Chu Lai. The map measures 52 x 29 cm [20½" x 11½:"] and is drawn on a scale of 1:4,707,648 or 74.3 miles to the inch. There's a place-name index on the reverse side, with two inset maps of the area in 1907 and 1949. Condition: This map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with folds, as issued, and no rips, tears, or writing. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. It is an original 1965 map, published as a supplement to the January 1965 edition of The National Geographic Magazine, and its impressive detail and handsome appearance make it a great reference to the war. We may also have a later, larger, and more detailed map of Vietnam, published in 1967, the same year the Khe Sanh "Hill Fights" began. It shows roads, railroads, tracks and trails, airfields, canals, swamps, and other features on the landscape during the Vietnam War and is listed as item # 275317693551 in our eBay store.
