All the Nichiren sects of this Buddhism venerate the founder 13th century priest known as Nichiren Daishonin (Nichiren Shonin in some sects). They focus their prayers towards the scroll and chant the words Nam Myoho Renge Kyo (some sects say Namu followed by Myoho Renge Kyo). The scroll measures approx: 16.7 X 42.5 inches. The scroll offered here is dated 1968 and is a version of the Nichiren mandala issued by the Minobu Sect(Nichiren Shu) branch of Nichiren Buddhism. It is in Excellent condition given it's age with some wrinkles and creases and pin holes, stains ETC.........a very nice example of a Gohonzon. The character area may be slightly darkened due to prayers from incense burning. A stunningly very beautiful Gohonzon scroll you have see and appreciate!!!
