Description: 1970s Conrad banjo (Kasuga Factory). 1970s Conrad banjo. These banjos are getting much harder to find in good condition! They were made in Japan and came out of the Kasuga factory. I believe Alvarez are virtually the same banjo as the Conrad and I know Kasuga is. The banjo is in excellent condition. The following link includes a video of the banjo being played: imgur.com/a/WnLxpSg All metal on the pot has held up super well over time. The wood is in great shape with minimal fret wear. Aftermarket tuners have been installed, but they are nothing special. Just a small step up from the original tuners which I still have. A wider Crowe style bridge has also been installed. The only thing I know of that is wrong with the banjo is a minor buzz from where the first string rests in the nut. I put a small piece of paper towel between the nut and string and that seems to have taken care of it. The banjo sounds TERRIFIC for what it is. Great tone and plenty of volume. It has been set up by a professional luthier. It is perfect for a beginner who is serious but doesn’t want to invest the several thousand dollars required for a professional instrument. I would also think this banjo can be gigged if desired. You would be hard pressed to find a banjo in this price range that sounds as good. The banjo does come with a case and I believe it is original. With that being said, it could be in worse shape but it could be in better shape. It is a little banged up so don’t expect anything special in the category.
