Description: 1970s Pontiac Chair Company Fabric Sample/Sales Catalog as you see it, for their 'Chieftain Chair Line'. The storied Pontiac Chair Company of Pontiac, Illinois was operating at least as early as the 1880s. It was renamed Pontiac Furniture Industries in the 1970s and was closed in the mid 80s. Based on the style and fabrics, I would estimate this catalog is from the late 1960s or early 1970s. It was among the inventory of a defunct local furniture retailer and has been in storage for many years. It's in good condition overall, but there is some discoloration of the paper pages here and there, but most is just minor darkening from age. The pages are held in place by a steel notebook-like clasp, which has some surface rust, and the cover is somewhat faded with a few small tears along the edges. It contains 30 - 10.25" x 12" double sided pages on heavy card stock, printed on one side with samples attached to the other. Fabric colors seem to be crisp and in good shape. The book has a moderate musty aroma from storage which should fade over time.
