Description: Description: On February 26, 1976, the undefeated University of Indiana Basketball team visited the University of Wisconsin Field House to play the Badgers. Just before entering March Madness, the Hoosiers won 97-67, led by Coach Bobby Knight and their legendary starting five of Scott May, Tom Abernathy, Kent Benson, Quinn Buckner, and Bobby Wilkerson. The team would run the tables in the NCAA tournament and to this day, this is the last undefeated squad with a National Championship in Division I. On the right side of the tightly stapled inner scorecard spread, there are seven significant signatures including each of the starting five players and Bobby Knight, all in bold ball point pen ink. To establish additional provenance, the 5th leading scorer from the undefeated 1974-75 regular season team, John Laskowski, also signed the program. At the time, John Laskowski was a first year player for the Chicago Bulls and with an open date the day before he traveled with his NBA team to New York on February 27, 1976, John drove North to Madison from the Windy City in order cheer on his former college team from the bench. The John Laskowski signature is critically important because it dates the autographs definitively to only this one date and conclusively proves that the signatures were exclusively penned on February 26, 1976. Period team-signed 1976 University of Indiana Basketball autographs are extremely rare and absolutely unique in this format. This fantastic piece of memorabilia was originally obtained from a noted media member who had direct access to the players and coach Bobby Knight. This program is in very good to excellent shape with typical cover foxing and the Mint 9 to Gem Mint 10 condition signatures from top to bottom on page 13 are Quinn Buckner, Scott May, Tom Abernathy, Bobby Wilkerson, Kent Benson, and Bobby Knight. As mentioned, John Laskowski signed his name on the far right side. This is a tremendous piece of NCAA history representing one of the greatest teams in the history of college basketball. Bobby Knight is in the Hall of Fame and every starting member of this team now collects an NBA pension.
