1977 Sportscaster Card - Joe Frazier

Description: 1977 Sportscaster Card 03 005 09-10 - Smokin' Joe Frazier - EXCELLENT condition. These cards measure 4-3/4" x 6-5/16" and were issued 10 at a time by Editions Rencontre S.A., Lausanne. "Smokin" Joe won the heavyweight Olympic Gold Medal in the 1964 Olympics and went on to become the World Heavyweight Champion from March 4, 1968 (when he knocked out Buster Mathis), to January 22, 1973 (when he was beaten by George Foreman). Many did not think Frazier was the rightful champion because Muhammad Ali had been stripped of his title, until March 8, 1971, when he beat Ali, earning a 15-round decision over him at Madison Square Garden. Printed on relatively thin stock (which makes them hard to find in premium condition), each card features at least one photo on the front and a thorough biography and the subject's vital statistics and awards and records on the back. There is a slight indentation line (as thin as a pencil line) that can only be seen when the card is tilted in the light, on the left side of the card, but it is still in EXCELLENT condition.
