The film is based on the true story of Jiang Qing, a communist revolutionary and martyr who fought against the Japanese invasion of China during World War II. The movie follows the life of Jiang Qing, a schoolteacher who becomes a leader in the resistance against the Japanese occupation of her hometown in central China. She organizes a group of women to smuggle supplies and information across enemy lines, and leads an attack against Japanese soldiers who have taken control of a strategic bridge. The film depicts the bravery and sacrifice of the women who fought in the resistance, and highlights the struggles and hardships they faced during the war. It also explores the complex relationships between the women and their male counterparts, and the tensions that arise as they work together towards a common goal. “Sister Jiang" was a critical and commercial success upon its release in China, and is considered one of the classic films of the Chinese cinema. It won several awards, including the Golden Prize at the 11th Moscow International Film Festival.
