It was a violent and oppressive place that is best known for a horrible event called “Bloody Christmas.” In 1984 Wes Craven, thought it was the perfect place for A Nightmare on Elm Street, so he utilized the basement of the jail as a location for Freddy’s famous boiler-room scenes.
