Mark Gonzales (born June 1, 1968), also known as "Gonz" and "The Gonz", is an American professional skateboarder and artist. He is one of two Skateboarders in the 1987 Astroboyz card set, the other being Steve Steadham. Gonzales was a pioneer in the development of modern street skating and considered the first street-only skateboarder alongside Natas Kaupas. Gonzales and Kaupas are also credited with the first known boardslides on a handrail. Gonzales pioneering influence on skateboarding has caused him to be known as the godfather of modern street skateboarding and was named the "Most Influential Skateboarder of All Time" by Transworld Skateboarding magazine in December 2011.This card set was created and released by Herbie Fletcher and the Astroboyz. These cards were distributed mainly in Southern California in sealed 4 card packs and displayed in Surf shops and convenience stores. The entire 180 card set were randomly distributed in these packs throughout these retail locations and came with a random surf sticker(s) in each pack.
