Description: This is an exceptionally rare USA Made guitar! Features a 3/8” 5A Flame Maple Cap! The Washburn Mercury MG132FR is a very rare guitar and part of the Washburn Mercury series. There were only 60 pieces made. It is made in the USA Custom Shop but never published. It did get published in a japanese catalog of 1995. It featured a quilted maple drop top. Seymour Duncan humbuckers and a Schaller licensed Floyd Rose tremolo. In late 1991 Grover Jackson began a two year sabbatical with Washburn USA, as he did with almost every major US guitar maker. It turned into a longer stay as Grover was assigned production oversight of the Washburns USA Custom Shop from 1992-1996. Jackson was given a free-hand and he would end up revamping most of the Washburn production designs, and given responsibility of developing and designing completely new models which would become branded the MG Mercury Series (he later developed the Princess Series or P Series which eventually was renamed the N Series). Ultimately he was responsible for designing the entire Series that were ultimately released in early and mid-90’s. In the US, Jackson personally not only designed, but oversaw production of the MG100 Series guitars through the Washburn Custom Shop. These guitars were limited production lots (with largest quantity of any model of 90) made of the best wood, most highly figured tops, and high-end hardware and electronics. The designs are very reminiscent of the Jackson Dinky line he developed the decade earlier, while still keeping a number of Washburn esthetics. This is a Washburn MG132FR1995, made in the USA. I think it could be argued, that in person it may be the most beautiful guitar Grover ever designed! It has a truly amazingly 3D beautiful orange blaze quilt with a true 5A top!
