Description: A Washington state-made custom fixed-blade knife by the late K.M. "Twig" Davis, complete with it's original sheath. This custom knife is very handsome and classy-looking in it's design, materials, and size. It is the perfect size for a belt knife that any hunter, hiker, camper, should have on them when in the woods. This knife is capable of handling most medium to light chores and jobs, from skinning game to cutting your steak at camp dinner to cutting rope or splitting small kindling for starting a small campfire. K.M. Twig Davis made very high-quality and attractive custom knives in Washington state at his Maltby/Benton City shops. He was a master knifemaker and was very skilled in all things metal, and an expert welder as well. His nickname of "Twig" was given to him by his coworkers due to his slender frame while he worked on ocean-going ships at the Todd Shipyard in Washington. He would also work on the Alaska Pipeline from 1976 -1977, before retiring to take up his hobby of knifemaking full-time. Twig Davis would pass away in 2018, but his many beautiful and unique hand-made knives will live-on, exemplifying his expert metal-working and knife-making abilities. If you are a collector of fine custom fixed blade knives, this K.M. Twig Davis would be an excellent addition to any collection. It also would be a superb carry knife for someone wanting a high-class custom belt knife that is good for many tasks. The gracefully-upswept trailing point of the blade makes it good for skinning, but the point can be used for puncturing tasks, while the cutting edge flattens out for utility with the last bit of the blade dips downward very slightly to help finish a cut. The spine of the blade is wide and tapers uniformly, making the blade very strong and able to withstand lateral forces well in addition to downward or upward pressure at the cutting edge. The tang is full-length and encapsulated by the beautiful wood handle with a marble-like material used as spacer and as a plug for the rear of the handle, to cover the nut or fastener used to snug the handle onto the tang. This knife is nicely balanced, weighted, and feels very substantial in your hand. It comes with it's original leather sheath, which has a nice-sized belt loop for attachment, and a button-snap retention strap which keeps the knife securely in the scabbard. The scabbard has the nice feature of a slot cut into the belt loop, in which the retention strap can be tucked into, keeping it out of the way for ease of inserting and removing the knife with one hand when the retention strap isn't needed. Without that feature, it will usually take two hands to insert a knife into a belt scabbard, and often, when someone tries to do this one-handed they accidently cut into the retention strap while trying to get it out of the way with the blade. The stitching in the scabbard is heavy duty and 100% intact and tight. The button snap hardware is in superb condition, just as the rest of the scabbard is. This is a great looking, very well-made, multi-purpose multi-purpose belt knife that should also be a great long term investment if treated with care. As more of these Twig knives are being passed around and more collectors discover them, they are sure to appreciate in the future.
