All feature the black and white photography of Charles Martin Conlon. A century ago, he was the game's most prolific photographer. Over the course of his career, Conlon took portraits of thousands of players. 1991 Conlon Collection Baseball kicked off a five-year run with 330 cards. Card fronts have a sharp black and white photo with a thick black border. It's a simple design, but one that draws attention to the photos. Card backs have stats and extensive write-ups. While there are plenty of big names in 1991 Conlon Collection, it's also a great place to start find out about the Morton Coopers and Walter Bipps of the past. Not only are Conlon's photos fantastic, but flipping through a binder with this set is much faster than getting lost on Wikipedia. Between 1991 and 1994, 20,000 autographed cards were randomly inserted into factory sets. These cards included seven players; Johnny Mize, Bob Feller, Bobby Doerr, Enos Slaughter, Johnny VanderMeer, Hal Newhouser and Marty Marion (approximately 3,000 of each player). Signatures were done in silver ink on the B&W cards. The silver, however, has turned mostly "white" over the following years. NOTE: Any cards with autographs NOT in silver or white ink ARE NOT the original factory released autographed cards. Item Condition Having been burned too many times on eBay by dishonest listings and misleading descriptions and photos, I strive to provide significant detail on the condition of the card in addition to numerous high-quality photos so that you can accurately gauge the condition of the card to ensure you know what you are paying for. Notes on Item Condition The set is open, but all cards have been accounted for, 330 in total. Upon a cursory review, almost all cards appear to be in at least Near NR Mint NM condition including the Bob Feller autograph card. As I didn't closely inspect all cards, it is possible a few could be lower, but they all look great. Cards in photos give a good representative look at the overall condition of the cards. As noted above, the autograph cards were randomly inserted into the factory sets. This set includes a Bob Feller autograph card. Photos included.
