Description: This is an ORIGINAL 1992 Team USA mini batting helmet from Dairy Queen. These were used to serve sundaes in Spring/Summer 1992 at Dairy Queens throughout the USA to promote the 1992 Team USA Baseball team that was participating at that year's Barcelona Summer Olympics. For a brief background, while Team USA had teams in past Olympics (namely 1984 and 1988) it was just a demonstration sport. In 1992, baseball was a medal sport for the first time and everyone was excited for that year's Team USA. The USA team was 100% comprised of amateurs (professionals weren't allowed until 2000) and the 1992 roster included such future major leaguers as Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Giambi, Phil Nevin, Jason Varitek and Darren Dreifort. This particular helmet is authentic and includes the proper markings on the inside (manufactured by Laich) and is in excellent condition. Since ice cream was served in these at one time, they may show some typical wear but these have been stored away for years and are in great shape considering they are over 30 years old! This item is being sold as-is; if you want more photos or have additional questions, please ask. From a smoke-free and pet-free home. Celebrate the upcoming 2024 Olympics with this vintage collectible from the good ole days of Team USA! Thanks for looking!
