Description: Rare, unusual, but with a great history. This is an approximately 9 inch by 12 inch piece of the U-7 Miss Spring Air Mattress unlimited hydroplane from 1996. According to the Seattle Times, during the Seattle Seafair Texaco qualifying round on August 2, the U-7 driven by rookie Rick Christensen from Eatonville suffered a blow over accident. Interestingly, Rick spent nearly 90 seconds submerged without oxygen, but was rescued and ok. The hull was broken in half with top disintegrated. It was unable to compete in the Texaco Cup later that weekend. This souvenir was purchased many years ago from an estate which held quite a bit of higher end hydroplane memorabilia. I do not have any authentication and/or documentation (pictures, etc) of the signature or the damaged hull piece. Please inspect the pictures carefully and judge for yourself on the authenticity. Sold as-is. No returns. This is a very unusual piece from Hydro history and would make a great addition to any collection or even to a museum. Thanks for looking.
