Description: This handwoven 19th century five color coverlet is in fantastic condition with some age spots throughout due to age. This pattern is so detailed with eagles, leaves, colonial homes and star rosettes, most unusual pattern. From my research this is possibly the early patterns of the German Dutch designs and patterns. This is unsigned by the maker. It has full length fringe with the exception of the top. The bottom fringe is in the base color backing and the other two sides are in matching fringe colors of the design blue, green and red. The piece is very large in size, 91”x 101”. Could easily fit a king size bed. Note, it’s pictured on a queen and there is a joining line up the middle of the piece. It appears to be done at the time it was woven but am unsure. Overall, it is a stunning piece.
