Lenormand had a shingle as a bookseller and Etteilla as a mathematician - this was for the purposes of officialdom. On paper, these were their census occupations. MORE FACTS: Divination was not well respected during the decades after the French Revolution. All fortune-tellers used normal playing cards. Something interesting is to be found in the title. Both editions mention Napoleon. Lenormand never met Napoleon, only his wife, somewhat proving that shortly after her death, editors started to make her famous name publicly and started to give her more importance that she had in reality.
