Lovely Vintage Copy 1926 Small Manor Houses Farmsteads France Original DJ & Box

Description: Here's a lovely copy of a scholarly and substantial illustrated 1926 study of historic architecture in France in a Near Fine dust jacket, housed in its original box! The full title is: Small Manor Houses and Farmsteads in France by Harold Donaldson Eberlein and Roger Weare Ramsdell. It has a colored frontispiece with tissue guard, and 253 illustrations from half-tone photographs. Top page edges with sharp gilt. The volume, bound in navy buckram with bright gilt lettering and design to front cover and spine, is in Near Fine condition with basically no signs of wear, just a few light stray marks to the buckram covers and a tiny abrasion to the top edge of the front board. The crisp blue dust jacket with gold printing that mimics the design of the covers and spine is also in Near Fine condition with just traces of minor handling. (The gold on the dust jacket appears somewhat muted, which seems to be the way these jackets were originally printed.) 303 pp. Large octavo size measuring 8 x 11 inches. Stamp of previous owner R. C. Bowman is present on front and rear endpapers. The box has done its duty, protecting the book and dust jacket from any noticeable wear. The box shows age toning, scuffs and scrapes to edges, wear to corners and a bit of soiling. The seams of the top cover are splitting and the bottom panel (with the label showing title and publisher information) has detached but is still included. The bottom portion of the box remains in decent shape with much less splitting to seams. All lettering and the cover photograph remain bold and clear. It is uncommon to locate such a nice example of this title in a Near Fine dust jacket, especially so when accompanied by its original box. An Exceptional Find!
