Description: 1st edition 1st printing The Human Comedy by William Saroyan! Author’s 1st Novel. Here is a wonderful collectible copy of The Human Comedy by William Saroyan. This is a first edition second printing published by Harcourt, Brace And Company in 1943. This is also the author’s first full-length novel to be published. The binding is square and tight and immaculate throughout. There are six consecutive pages where a piece of paper was inserted into the book, left for decades, and then removed leaving the shadowing as shown in the last photo. The rust-colored cloth boards are spotless and the black lettering and illustration on the front board are near pristine in condition. There is light wear to the corners and along the edges but minimal indeed. There is a gift inscription dated March 1943 on the first free endpaper. The dust jacket is complete with the exception of having been price “torn” also as shown in the photos provided. There is a portion of the upper and lower spine chipped away as well as wear along the edges and folds. The last photo shows a detailed look at the spine wear. The jacket comes in a Mylar protector which can easily be removed should you wish to.
