Description: Maker: On the reverse of this exceptional pair of Limoges cabinet plates is the green backstamp number 9 of H&Co, the company that became the iconic Limoges firm Haviland & Co. Age: The H&Co mark was in use between 1888 and 1896. That means the plates are at least 125 years old and perhaps as old as 133. Source: Third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. Design: Both hand painted plates feature a geometric design highlighted in gold and a center monogram. One plate is blue, the other red. Condition and size: The 9 1/2 inch plates have no chips, cracks, stains, repairs or crazing. There is significant wear to the edges and to the main design on the red plate. There is light wear to the blue plate. This is shown in the photos. Despite the wear, these plates are very beautiful and would enhance any collection of Limoges or other fine china. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
