Description: 2 John Rockefeller Greetings Antique Postcards. USA Historical Figure. 1 Glitter These are a nice group of antique postcards from the early 1900s. The postcards show John Rockefeller, who was the founder and owner of Standard Oil Company. One postcard shows his home in Forest Hill, Cleveland Ohio. This is a very nice postcard, and it is in a black/gray and white colors. This is a NOVELTY postcard, and it has added GLITTER to the design; at the grass level, and then on the various floors of the house. The other postcard shows him in a hat along with his wife, standing outside a pullman train. The postcards are flat printed and they are UNPOSTED, and would have been published in the 1908-1912 era. One of them was "Printed in Germany" (the house), and the other was "Made in USA". These are flat printed postcards. Novelty postcards with GLITTER were not often made because of the extra steps involved in making them. They are truly collector items that are a pleasure to look at. These are nice postcards to put into a collection. They have historical significance, and document someone that was important to the business life of the USA. John Davison Rockefeller Sr. (July 8, 1839 – May 23, 1937) was an American business magnate and philanthropist. He has been widely considered the wealthiest American of all time and the richest person in modern history. Rockefeller was born into a large family in Upstate New York who moved several times before eventually settling in Cleveland. He became an assistant bookkeeper at age 16 and went into several business partnerships beginning at age 20, concentrating his business on oil refining. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870. He ran it until 1897 and remained its largest shareholder. These are BETTER POSTCARDS and good for a collector. The postcards will keep their value! They are sleeved and in good condition. Regarding condition, please note that we try to remove damaged postcards from our lots, and only sell those postcards that are worth having in a collection. However, because of their age, please expect some creases, cuts, stains, and edge wear on the postcards. We do not want you to be disappointed. Look closely at the photos we provide to see the postcards and the backs. The postcards are shipped in a sturdy envelope. We only ship within the USA; we do not ship internationally. USA shipping is with tracking, and we use eBay Standard Envelope mail when the value is under $20 and the weight is under 3 oz; and, we use USPS First Class mail when the value is over $20 or the weight is over 3 oz. We combine shipping whenever possible. If you purchase multiple lots, you can wait and we will send you an invoice for the combined shipping before you pay. In case you have already paid for the lots, we will still combine the shipment and refund you any extra shipping charges back to your account.
