Description: 2 Civil War Era Potsdam, NY CDVs standing men, 1 in frock coat, by Van Alstine This men in these photos are unidentified, but both are from the same photo gallery, though with slightly different back marks. Photographer C. W. Van Alstine is listed in The Daguerrian Registry as in the photographic business in Potsdam, New York from 1858. Yellowing to images. Soiling to images and cards. Photo of man with beard has some chipping at the top left corner. Some fading to images, especially top of beardless man. Edge wear to cards. Cards measure about 4 x 2.5 inches. Images measure about 3.75 x 2.125 inches. My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process. I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please check out my other listings. I will ship as soon as I receive payment.
