2 Vol Set + Slipcase-Literary Heritage-Banjo Paterson + Lawson-Australia-Illustr

Description: Offered is this vintage slipcase set of two books containing selected works by two of Australia's best-known early writers and poets. Included is "A Literary Heritage: 'Banjo' Paterson", with introduction written by Rosamund Campbell and Philippa Harvie (Paterson's granddaughters) and "A Literary Heritage: Henry Lawson", with introduction written by Brian Kiernan. Both books were published in 1988 by Octopus Publishing in Richmond, Victoria, Australia. The books are stated first editions. Each book has several sepia-tone photos and the original dust jackets are included. Paterson wrote "The Man from Snowy River" and the words to "Waltzing Matilda". Lawson is well-known for "The Drover's Wife", the Mitchell and Joe Wilson stories and many others. Each book is approx. 11 1/4" x 8 1/4" and contains 304 pages. Both are in very good to excellent condition. The pale yellow hard covers have almost no wear, the black words on the spines dark. There is no cracking inside either the front or back covers. The patterned endpapers are clean. I see no missing or torn pages and all of the pages are well-attached to the binding, clean and clear. I see no writing in either book. Both dust jackets have some fading and a few tiny spots. "Paterson" has some raggedness along the top edge but "Lawson" has almost none. The cardboard slipcase is excellent except for two very short (less than 1/2") breaks at the top opening, with some slight wrinkling between the breaks. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions.
