Description: 2 Washington Antique Patriotic Postcards. EMB, Gold. PUBL: IAP. 1909 era. This is a very nice group of PATRIOTIC POSTCARDS showing GEORGE WASHINGTON and honoring his Birthday and life. These postcards are ANTIQUE from the early 1900s. The postcards are colorful and attractive. The postcards show Washington in portraits, with one showing his home in Mt. Vernon, and the other with the USA flag. One of these postcards has red, white, and blue ribbons with gold stars. The postcards are nicely EMBOSSED and they are enhanced with GOLD trim in the design. These are collector items because of their age, the attractive colors and gold trim, and their desirability to Washington and patriotic antique postcard collectors. The publisher of these antique postcards is the International Art Publishing Co. (IAP) who published in Germany during 1895-1915, during the "Golden Age of Postcards". IAP is considered one of the best publishing companies for quality postcards of that era. They published holiday and souvenir postcards. One of their most famous artists was Ellen Clapsaddle who is highly popular with collectors. Her work with children especially is well regarded and sought after. IAP was later acquired by the Wolf & Co. who continued publishing postcards with Clapsaddle. IAP postcards always bring a premium and are sought after by collectors. The postcards are UNPOSTED (1) and POSTED (1) with a cancel date of 1909. The postcards were "PRINTED IN GERMANY" during the "Golden Age of Postcards" (1908-1915). They have divided backs. These are BETTER POSTCARD and good for a collector. The postcards will keep their value! They are sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, cuts, stains, paper toning, and edge wear due to their age (over 100 years old!). The photos show the postcards and their backs. The postcards are shipped in a sturdy envelope. We only ship within the USA; we do not ship internationally. USA shipping is with tracking, and we use eBay Standard Envelope mail when the value is under $20 and the weight is under 3 oz; and, we use USPS First Class mail when the value is over $20 or the weight is over 3 oz.
