Description: 20 UNROOTED 15"-20" English Ivy CUTTINGS, Hedera Helix Groundcover - Easy to Root! - You will receive 20 UNROOTED CUTTINGS of English Ivy, each measuring anywhere from 15” - 20” in lengths. These are living plant cuttings, so you will need to root (propagate) them in water or soil. *** To conserve paper, I don’t include printed rooting instructions in orders, so please refer to the online instructions below. *** HOW TO ROOT YOUR CUTTINGS: IN WATER Tip: To facilitate faster root growth, you can cut the ivy into 3”-5” portions, making sure to make each cut below a node (knobby areas where the leaves are produced). (1) Fill up a clear container with clean, distilled, or filtered water and place in a warm area that receives indirect sunlight. (2) Remove the bottom half of the leaves, if they aren’t already removed. (Holding the stem for support, lightly press down on the joint where the leaf meets the stem, and it should snap off naturally). (3) Place the cuttings in the container of water, ensuring the nodes where you removed the leaves fromare submerged, but keeping the top leaves above the water. Change the water every 3-4 days. (4) Once the roots are a few inches long, your ivy is ready to be potted in soil. Rooting times vary, but roots generally appear in 1-2 months. (5) Transplant the rooted ivy cuttings into nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. At this stage, continue to keep the ivy out of direct sunlight. Once they’re well-rooted in the soil, they can be exposed to direct sunlight, if desired. However, ivy does best and keeps a dark green color if grown in shade or indirect sunlight. IN SOIL Tip: To facilitate faster root growth, you can cut the ivy into 3”-5” portions, making sure to make each cut below a node (knobby areas where the leaves are produced). (1) Remove some lower leaves from the cuttings. (2) Fill a pot or planter with well-draining potting soil or a sand and soil mix and place in an area that receives indirect sunlight. (3) Carefully insert each cutting deep into the soil, ensuring the nodes where the leaves were removed are buried, but keeping the top leaves above ground. Gently press the soil around the stem to secure. (If desired, to encourage root growth, you can dip the cut end of the ivy in rooting hormone powder or gel before inserting into the soil.) (6) Water consistently, and keep the soil evenly moist. After 6–8 weeks, the cuttings should have rooted and are ready to transplant to a permanent location. ABOUT - English Ivy originally came over from England, establishing a sense of elegance in the corners of yards and houses that other plants just don't have the ability to do. - According to NASA, English Ivy is one of the TOP 10 AIR PURIFYING PLANTS. - Once established, English Ivy is basically care free. If it trails a little further than you would like, just cut it back, and propagate the cuttings if desired. PACKAGING AND UNWRAPPING - Please make sure you unwrap your ivy as soon as you receive it, and place the cut ends in water. They will be tightly wrapped in plastic and tape. Use a box cutter to gently slice through the tape. Some leaf loss/damage is expected. - To keep shipping costs low, I bundle the ivy vines together and wrap the cut ends in a wet paper towel, which is wrapped in plastic and secured with tape. Then, I thoroughly wet the ivy vines with water, and I wrap them tightly in plastic, which I secure with tape. After that, I package them in a cardboard box that I tailor make to fit around the wrapped ivy bundle. ECO-FRIENDLY: I USE RECYCLED PACKAGING FOR ALL OF MY PLANT ORDERS. *** I do everything within my power to GUARANTEE THE DELIVERY OF LIVING PLANTS. However, once in a while, the USPS will delay a delivery or mishandle packages. If the plants are dead upon arrival, or severely damaged, please contact me within a few hours of delivery, and send me a clear picture(s) of the plants, and I will offer you the choice of either a full refund or a free replacement. - If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to bring them to me. I am very receptive, and I try to provide as much help and knowledge to my customers as possible. ~ Thanks for stopping by The Velvet Begonia! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ COMBINED SHIPPING U.S. ORDERS - If you wish to combine shipping on multiple listings, please request an invoice at checkout. *If you don't want to request an invoice, you can send me a list of your items before purchasing them, and I'll arrange them into a single combined shipping listing for you to click on and purchase.
