Description: Up for sale, a 2014 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1956 Les Paul Goldtop "R6" in mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the COA, hangtags, and Lifton-style hardshell case. Upgraded from stock, this Goldtop boasts Throbak '55/'56-SB MXV P-90 pickups and a matching Throbak wiring harness (original components included). Lightweight at 9lbs 1oz, this Les Paul is well-balanced, acoustically resonant, and offers plenty of natural sustain. The Throbak P-90's are some of the most celebrated (and vintage accurate) pickups on the market. Directly patterned after the pickups in two vintage 1956 Les Pauls, this Throbak set has transitional features, with Long A2 magnets in the neck position and long A4 magnets at the bridge, an apparent attempt to balance neck/bridge tones from the factory. The result is a rich, smokey neck tone with fat trebles, and a bridge pickup rich in harmonics with ample growl and midrange presence. Excelling both at cleans and high gain crunch, this Custom Shop model epitomizes the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail that has made Gibson's modern Historic line a favorite with players and collectors alike.
