Brand new event poster for the 2014 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, held August 14-17 at Laguna Seca. In addition to the usual slate of competitive vintage races, the event celebrated the 100th anniversary of Maserati. The poster features two iconic Maserati racing carsthe 250F Grand Prix car and the Tipo 61 Birdcage. Artist Bill Patterson applied his signature style to create a visually compelling and motion-filled image that is beautifully reproduced on this poster, complete with the rich texture of canvas from the original painting. Printed on heavy matte-finish stock, the poster measures 24 x 36 (61 x 92cm). Brand new. The Maserati 250F had a lifespan of seven years of racing, driven by a long list of racing greats including Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Alberto Ascari, Peter Collins, Mike Hawthorn and many more. The 250F was crucially important in carrying Juan Manuel Fangio to two of his five World Championship-winning seasons in 1954 and 1957. The Tipo 61shown here in the colors of the Camoradi racing team, which famously campaigned the car, winning the 1000km at Nrburgring in 1960 and 1961. The Tipo 61 was built over an intricate tubular space frame chassis, constructed of about 200 chro-moly steel tubes welded togetherthe inspiration for the nickname, Birdcage. Maserati produced its first racing car in 1926the Tipo 26. It debuted with a victory in the 1926 Targa Florio. This auspicious beginning was the first of a long string of Maserati wins, including two editions of the Indianapolis 500, nine wins in Formula One and the 1957 F1 World Championship. Some of the most admired road-cars wear the Maserati Trident, including the worlds first production super-sedan, the 1963 Quattroporte.
