FINE SILVER" and "ONE DOLLAR" also encompass the reverse. In 2021, for the first time in 35 years, the classic American Silver Eagle was updated with an enhanced obverse design and a brand new reverse design! Before production could begin on the new Type 2 Silver Eagle, production had to come to an end with the original design which is now referred to as the Type 1 Silver Eagle.
