Description: Here is an exceptional lot of twenty-six different old cardboard "play money" tokens, all in quite fine condition for the most part, and the 1875 "Seated Liberty" piece near the center measures app. 1 & 1/4" across, for the sake of comparison. A neat group that would be hard to duplicate, it includes many variations and denominations, and I have not cleaned or altered the appearance of any of these in any manner. Two of the photos have been "enhanced" for clarity, and some minor imperfections are nothing distracting, and honestly, better than one might expect from children's toys that have been around since the later 19th century. For the most part, these are from the first three series put out by the Milton Bradley Company, the first type copyrighted in 1877, with the exception of four pieces from Parker Brothers. The pictorial tokens caused trouble with the Treasury Department, making the company change their appearance afterwards. To tell the truth, in my experience, the Parker Brother pieces are hardly ever seen, and I have dealt with this intriguing tokens for decades - maybe I just missed them. In addition, I have included three "mint errors" haha!, which are from the second series with the star reverse, all a little more rugged and of the twenty-five cent denomination. Included in this group are three different one cent tokens, a two-cent piece, three different nickels, four different dimes, three different quarters, four half dollars, two dollar tokens, a $2 1/2, a $3, a $5, two different $10's and a $20. ... plus the three odd ones. Big fun in toyland! $200. Please note I am always happy to combine shipping costs should you win more than one of my auctions, and I usually add just a minimal additional cost per item. Your business is sincerely appreciated!
