Description: Maker and age: These four lovely 7 1/2 inch plates have the green back stamp number 12 of Haviland Limoges that was in use between 1894 and 1931, and a red overglaze Haviland & Co decorators mark indicating they were produced for W.S. Hugg & Co, a high-end retailer in Richmond, Virginia, at the turn of the last century. That means the plates were produced and decorated by the Haviland factory between 1894 and 1931, making them at least 88 years old. Design: The pattern features delicate lavender roses and pale blue ribbons against a background of pure white porcelain. It appears to be the same pattern on all four plates. However, two different blanks are included, one with a verge and one without. Although all of the plates are scalloped, the two with a verge have a different scalloping design. Two of the photos compare the blanks. Many of the great Limoges companies produced variations of this classic and hugely popular pattern of small delicate roses against a white background. That means this plate would easily blend into similar sets by many other Limoges makers. And of course, it would make a beautiful display on its own or as part of any collection of fine china. Condition: All four plates are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, stains, repairs, crazing or utensil marks. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
