Agave plants are largely used for the sugars they produce, but have immense ornamental value as a bold focal piece. These relatively short lived plants will grow for 8 to 15 years before producing a large flower spike from the center of the plant and dying. Like many plants with this type of life cycle, Blue Agave will produce multitudes of pups to continue its legacy once it has reached the end of its lifespan. Blue Agave is a valuable ornamental as it requires very little water and will tolerate heat conditions that are not survivable for most other plants. Their sage green to blue hued leaves add interesting texture throughout the life of the plant as they grow to a striking 8 by 8 ft.
