Description: Handcarved Kokeshi dolls represent a beautiful folkart craft of northeast Japan dating back more than 300 years. As with many wood crafts, this art form adopted the use of a lathe, but the dolls are still considered handcarved. They are also handpainted with beautiful stains and a polished wax finish. This charming doll is 1970's Kokeshi. It stands 5.5” tall and the wood from which it is carved has a beautiful grain and the simplicity of the painted flowers is gorgeous. Excellent condition.
