Description: The cut of this dress is very ordinary--your mama would wear it. The high front neckline hides everything and so does the back, with its nylon zip (hence my guess at the later 60s as a manufacturing date). The not so full, below the knees skirt is lightly/slightly gathered to a bodice shaped with waist darts. But the compensation for all this simplicity is the rich black velvet fabric and the rhinestone trim at throat and cuffs. This was intended as a party dress for someone who wanted to shine on their own terms. It is a couture piece, but with the labels snipped out. The bust is about a size 34", the waist about a 28", and it measures 16" from back to waist and 32" from waist to hem. It's 15" shoulder to shoulder, and 20" underarms. A belt with a rhinestone buckle would be a great touch. In any case, all it needs is a good pressing and someone who wants to make an impression their way.
