Description: 7" Sweet little dessert plate: Yellow with Flowers Border, Hand-Painted, JapanThis plate has no maker on the stamp, just Made in Japan. The flowers on it are not only obviously hand-painted, but look like watercolor. That's a neat trick I have not seen before. The border design definitely gives this plate an Art Nouveau feel to it, but the buttery yellow color is just so Afternoon Tea kind of feel. It is truly unique and lovely. Further research tells me that is probably from as early as 1930 or as late as the 1960s. It's in excellent condition for a plate that has come through this many years.
