Also, if you purchase dampers and pay for dampers and socket savers at the same time, shipping will automatically be combined. These socket savers are designed to fit 9 pin vacuum tubes. Many audiophiles and musicians use these for two purposes: 1) These are used in tube testers to prolong the life of the much used 9-pin tube tester socket. The sockets in tube testers can wear out and become loose after many tubes are inserted and removed. Our socket savers will prolong the life of the 9-pin socket in your tube tester. 2) Many hi-fi amps and preamps have 9-pin sockets that are mounted below the surface of the chassis (see photos). If you use tube dampers, the positioning of the tube low on the chassis, will prevent you from properly placing the dampers in the recommended position, over the mica spacers. With our socket savers, the tube is elevated above the surface of the chassis allowing proper placement of tube dampers.
