Description: Rare 9ct gold Channel Islands football medal presented to a player of Belgrave Wanderers FC from Guernsey as they won the prestigious Upton Park Trophy for the first time in their history in 1947. The front of the medal bears the Guernsey Crest in relief upon a central shield. It is embossed: "GUERNSEY FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION" The obverse is engraved: "UPTON PARK CUP 1947" Included with the medal is a printout of the Wikipedia page relating to the Upton Park Trophy showing details of all the Finals between 1907 & 2016. This confirms that Belgrave Wanderers won the trophy for the first time in 1947, beating Beeches OB from Jersey by a score of 3 - 0. 9ct Gold Medal: Weight: 11.4 gm. Width: 28 mm. Upton Park Trophy: Awarded to the winners of an annual football match in the Channel Islands between the Champions of Guernsey and the Champions of Jersey. The trophy belongs to the Guernsey FA and is run by them which is why their crest is on the front of the medal. The trophy was donated to the Guernsey FA by Upton Park FC to mark their 10th consecutive visit to the island in 1906 & was first competed for in 1907. Belgrave Wanderers FC: A football club based on the Channel Island of Guernsey; they are affiliated to the Guernsey FA and play in the FNB Priaulx League. They have only won the Upton Park Trophy on 4 occasions in their history in 1947 (the medal for sale), 1960, 2006 & 2008.
