Description: Forest Hill Park: A Report on the Proposed Landscape Development Author: TAYLOR, A. D. [Albert Davis] Title: Forest Hill Park: A Report on the Proposed Landscape Development Publication: Cleveland: [privately printed] [printed by The Caxton Company], 1938 Edition: First Edition Description: Hardcover. Quarto, 104pp., illustrated, plus two folding maps at rear, complete as issued. Very good in the publisher's green cloth, titled in gilt. Spine gilt perished, the whole book with a very faint curl in the same direction; still sound. Some mild mustiness. A presentation copy, SIGNED and lengthily inscribed by Taylor, the landscape architect, to one of his draughtsmen: "To my loyal friend 'Rob' Wright with the best wishes and compliments of A. D. Taylor. A partial expression of my appreciation of your fine work on many of these drawings which will go far in determining the architectural theme in Forest Hill Park. 'A. D.'" Forest Hill Park is a large urban park straddling the cities of East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights. The park consists of a large piece of land owned by Cleveland native John D. Rockefeller, which he donated to the two cities shortly before his death. Taylor, the landscape architect, had a practice in Cleveland that catered to the upper class. He also woekd on a number of public projects, including the gardens at the Pentagon. This book contains a number of wonderful renderings of various elements of the park, and the two maps, which are in fine condition, give a detailed bird's eye view. Uncommon signed by Taylor, and this copy with a pleasing personal association. Very good.
