Accurate Herbie Monte Carlo 1/10 vinyl Decals Tamiya Volkswagen Beetle

Description: MOVIE ACCURATE Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo blue self adhesive decals for your 1/10 scale beetle. This is a darker blue, as close as I can get to that used in Herbie Rides Again, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, and Herbie Goes Bananas (before actually going bananas). . I was building a Herbie, and needed decals. Every decal set I could find was the wrong font, the wrong size, or wrong in some other way. These are scaled for the Tamiya Volkswagen Beetle. What is included;Accurate "53" font.at least 6 round 40mm 53gumballsat least 2 round 36mm 53gumballs which may work better on the rear hood since the Tamiya model is a 1967 and it cramps the proper 16" number unlike the 1963 model. at least 2 oblong 40mmx45 53 gumballs which may work better on the frunk. The actual movie cars usually had the 5 and 3 further apart here due to the trim, and I have done the same. at least 4 Love Bug blue racing stripes 16mm wide and 7" long. If you need longer stripes, please let me know. at least 2 Rag top roof decals. 1 blank that measures 4" x 3 3/4". The other includes a stripe that should run from windshield to rear window, that stripe is just under 6 1/2". at least 2 movie accurate license plates without tabs. at least 2 sets of Love Bug racing tape decals for headlights Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo Trans France Race rear window decalHerbie Goes to Monte Carlo Trans France Race front window decalHerbie Goes to Monte Carlo mock fuel door (this one is VERY low quality compared to the other decals, and is still a work in progress). Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo Carello Fog/Driving light cover decal. Plus UPSIZED Carello light cover decal to fit Tamiya Rally Beetle. Full scale number gumballs are usually about 16" Movies have the stripes varying between 5 1/2" - 6 1/2". 16mm equals about 6 1/4".red is 4mm, white is 4mm, and blue is 8mm wide. Unfortunately these decals must have separate listings, but they are available in;Love Bug blue -Decals are sold as “weather proof”. I’ve been testing them bathroom showers, kitchen sinks, and outdoors and so far have seen no issues. Although they might be waterproof, they are not magic, please adhere only when fully dry and to a clean area. They are meant to be applied once. -I personally use them on real and RC cars. Pictures of other stickers are to show an expectation of what you will receive.-UV Resistance. These made with UV resistant materials. No chemical coating is used. I've had some outside for 3 years, and on my car for two. I have not noticed any perceivable fading. -If you do have any problem with the material, please let me know as detailed as possible so I can try to correct the situation. -Other sizes, and color combinations available up to 6" at no extra cost, but bigger sizes means less stickers, while smaller sizes will get you more. 1 sheet per order, and I will try to fit as many on a sheet as I can. Please allow an extra handling day for custom orders. -Decals will not be shipped on whole sheets. -I will ship these out as fast as I can, often the same day. I have "2 day handling service" marked just as a buffer for when life happens. If you'd like waterslide, please email. Waterslides may not be pre-cut, and color may vary. 1:10 Volkswagen Herbie Build Tips. I’ve built two so far, one Love Bug, and one Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (my first build ever, so it’s not very good). I filled the front indicators with white/clear school glue on my first one, and I really liked the result to get the older Beetle look. I forgot this on my 2nd build. The Tamiya stickers are fine, but scream a later model Beetle. Paint. Herbie is NOT WHITE. The correct color L87 “Perlweiss“. A color between tan, grey, and white. Since this color is difficult to get for plastics, here are two spraycan alternatives. Krylon Matte Clamshell Krylon Satin Ivory. Both these colors I are too white in my opinion, but the best I can find on a budget. The Clamshell is more cold whitegrey, while the Ivory is a little bit more warm whitetan. Dover White is very similar to Satin Ivory, but whiter. The finish does not matter since you are painting the inside of the body. First use Tamiya PS-55 clear coat. At least 2 coats. Let fully dry, then apply the Krylon spray paint. If you don’t use PS-55 first, there is a good chance of the spray paint cracking and flaking later. I’ve read even with the clear coat, this might still happen. So far my first build has shown no signs of cracking after 16 months and some light bashing. My Monte Carlo was done with waterslides, and my Love Bug with my new vinyl. The new vinyl is SO much better. Most people prefer precut stickers by machine, but the machine is only 98-99% accurate. I prefer to cut mine by hand, and if you value perfection over ease of use, please let me know you’d prefer some uncut decals. After Painting I Start with the frunk. Place the stripe just to the driver side (car left) of the center hood ridge (red towards center). The 53’s will not be thick enough to avoid any bleed through from the stripe below. I place a second 53 here over the first to hide the bleed through. Some sets will have a blank white circle for this purpose. Use xacto knife to cut any extra stripe near the windscreen, and just fold under the frunk for the rest. (Because of the shape of the frunk, If you are using waterslides; I suggest cutting the 53 in half first) The rooftop with stripe is designed to be aligned with the stripe if placed just (car left) of the hood ridge. The short part should start at the top of the windscreen. Use exacto knife to cut off any extra stripe. The rear license plate is a trouble spot on the Tamiya model. I found it best to cut the stripes length wise between the blue and white here, and have the red+white go over the license plate, and the blue next to it. The license plate cover is a mess. It ended up a different color when painted with Clamshell compared to the body. I’m tempted to cut down to mimic a 1963 and to eliminate the stripe issue the 1967 creates here. I left it unpainted on my Monte Carlo, which left is nearly the same color as the Satin Ivory. The 53 on the engine cover “should” be the same size as those used on the doors, but could be an issue depending upon your model VW. I’ve included a smaller 53 which can be used here at your discretion. Other details; Install drivers left side mirror only, do not install the passenger side. The Tamiya “Rally Beetle” kit comes with rally lights for the front bumper. These could be used to recreate Herbies fog light as seen in Herbie Rides Again, and Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, but this light is much much bigger than the Carello light used in the movies, and I now include an upside decal for it. The window stickers are worse compared to the regular Tamiya Volkswagen because they added words on them. I painted my taillights (outside) with acrylic to get a dark red to get the older Beetle look. The Tamiya stickers are fine, but make it look too new. If you need any replacement Tamiya stickers for the window paint covers or the details, please let me know, but anything “silver” will be grey, and the detail stickers will be “waterslide”. I can send either one anytime for $2.50. However, the waterslides colors will be more dulled, and the window paint covers will overly stick to the window.
