Description: Akai Model GX-F90 is an Audiophile 2-channel stereo cassette recorder deck. Featuring a 3-head system with combination record/playback GX head, bias control mechanism, microprocessor control and Dolby noise reduction - F90 has been considered by many audiophiles as one of the best Akai cassette decks ever made. The Akai GX-F90 featured all Super GX playback and record "glass heads". As per Akai's advertisements, you could run an Akai GX series deck 24/7 for 17.5 years before their heads wore out. That’s 150,000 hours, as compared to a more typical 3000-4000 hour life span of steel cassette heads of the 70-80's. GX-F90 transport features 2 motors direct drive (no belts). The capstan motor is a brushless FG/DCservo with three Hall elements. It is named BLM-100 and was also used in the GX-F95 monster. The unit weight more than 22 lbs due to solid structure, reliable transport and double stacked main board for record/play back pre-amp processing. See internal photos for more details. Record and play back speed (wow and flutter) have been re-calibrated within manufacturer specs All dials, toggle switches, buttons, indicator lights, all inputs and outputs are tested.
